The Boys and Girls in Green, commonly referred to as the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) respectively, from Jose Rizal Elementary School in Jose Rizal, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, demonstrated exceptional leadership and adaptability during the BSP & GSP School-based Encampment that took place on March 1-3, 2024. The event's main objective was to focus on " Sustaining Growth by Creating an Empowered and Engaged Youth Through Scouting".
The encampment started at 6:00 PM with registration. At the same time, the opening ceremony where the School's Overall Coordinator, Principal Roderick P. Orpilla, greeted all the participants warmly. He emphasized the importance of the scouting movement in integrating the activities of three highlighted areas, such as monkey bridge, slide for life, and garter obstacle. The Astorga Mountaineering and Ecological Conservation Club (AMECC, Inc.) received an invitation from Jose Rizal Elementary School Head, Roderick P. Orpilla, to facilitate various activities that would enhance the capabilities of the scouts. The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) have a primary objective of training young boys and girls in the scouting movement. This training is designed to provide practical skills that can benefit both themselves and others. Scouts are taught valuable virtues such as patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and other similar qualities. The scouting movement aims to help Scouters become God-loving, progressive, dynamic, and proactive citizens.
The AMECC, Inc. club, under the leadership of President Kevin Montezo, would like to express their gratitude to the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRMO) for their proactive technical and equipment assistance. The LDRRMO's contribution significantly contributed to the success of the school's event, which was made possible under the administration of Municipal Mayor Jose Nelson Z. Sala. The LDRRMO, headed by Romulo Zamora Berondo and LDRRMO I Ellan Manto, played a crucial role in making the activity possible.
