The Astorga Mountaineering and Ecological Conservation Club -AMECC has joined a mass clean-up drive which actively supported by our Local Government Unit of Sta. Cruz thru the Office of Environment and Natural Resources Management Division headed by Alan B. Angub, along National highway and other areas of barangay Astorga like coastal and creeks. This engagement marks the launch of the KALINISAN sa Bagong Pilipinas Program (Kalinga sa Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na bayan) on Saturday January 6, 2024.
Volunteers and Barangay Government Unit of Astorga headed by Punong Barangay Hon. Alexis “Dodong” Almendras, including teachers from DepEd and other barangay functionaries, collected sachets, rubber slippers and other non-biodegradable waste that have been washed in creeks and coastal areas.
The Clean-up Drive is not just about picking up trash, it's about creating awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility towards our environment. This initiative aims to educate and to engage people of all ages on the importance of proper waste management, recycling, and sustainable practices. Through this collective effort, we can build a culture of good environmental stewardship that will have a lasting impact on our planet.
